Toning Up After Weight Loss

Losing weight can be full of ups and downs, but it’s worth it – until that frustrating moment you look in the mirror and notice that you still have some areas that need work. When you lose weight, very often excess skin remains, and so do little pockets of fat that you just can’t get rid of. Luckily, there are a few procedures that can help to refine all of the work you’ve done.

Liposuction

This popular procedure can be used to remove fat from problem areas such as the buttocks, hips, thighs, and upper arms. There are three different kinds of liposuction: super-wet liposuction, laser-assisted liposuction, and ultrasound assisted liposuction. The type used depends on where the fat is and what results you’d like to see.

Tummy tuck

This is also known as “abdominoplasty,” and it helps flatten the stomach by tightening and smoothing the muscles and reattaching stomach muscles that have become separated, removing excess skin, and bringing the belly button up to a higher position. There are also different types of tummy tucks; the type your doctor will use depends on where the incisions are made and how much fat needs to be removed.

Facelift

Your body may look toned and healthy after you lose weight, but sometimes fat can be more difficult to get rid of in the face. A facelift can get rid of excess skin in the jowls and under the chin.

Brachioplasty

As we get older, we start to notice that our upper arms can become flabby. Unfortunately, it is not easy to remove fat from this part of the body. Brachioplasty (an arm lift) can get rid of fat and extra skin while contouring the upper arm.

You should be very proud of yourself after months or years of diet and exercise – losing weight is hard work. But sometimes no matter what you do, you don’t have exactly the look you want.
